Studio news
This time the news is not so good...
June 15, 2006 -
An announcement was made by the Leadership Team
at the Disney-MGM Studios today that the final day of
the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire — Play It!" Attraction
will be on Saturday, August 19th, 2006. The soundstages
will then be modified to allow the construction and
subsequent operation of a new ride for guests at the
Studios. This construction will entail the dismantling of
the control rooms and dressing rooms in the Production
Hallway and the reshaping of the portico area. The facility
will no longer host television and film production, per se,
with the exception of special features and tapings in the
fashion of current ride mounts, etc. for visiting media
and television shows.
Broadcast Operations and Disney Production Services does
not have a final location for their residence after relocating
from the soundstages, but that announcement is expected
in the near future. Once the announcement has been made,
Broadcast Operations will be relocating the edit bays and
equipment that currently resides in the Production Hallway
to that new location to continue its operation in
support of numerous Disney and third-party clients.
